About

Jiska de Vries, born on oct. 6 1982, Almere.

My work explores identity. I experiment with new media (AR) and traditional techniques such as screen printing, linocut, collage, and photography. In this process, text and image intuitively merge. I investigate what lies beneath the surface of everyday life—such as fears, desires, and taboos—and am fascinated by the tension between the fear of and the desire for visibility. Through this, I unravel how personal, bodily, and societal identities take shape or are suppressed. I translate this exploration into various media, with the physical book or magazine often serving as the canvas.

Mijn werk gaat over identiteit.
